IKEA targets reduced carbon footprint from deliveries in major cities by 2020

IKEA Group to aims to provide all of its deliveries vide EV or zero emission vehicles by 2025.

On Friday, IKEA Group, the owner of most IKEA stores worldwide, stated, all of its home deliveries in the inner cities of Paris, Amsterdam, New York, Los Angeles, and Shanghai would be made by electric vehicles or zero-emission vehicles by 2020.

IKEA, the world’s biggest furniture retailer stated, as a result of this decision, 25% of its home deliveries would be zero-emission by 2020.

By 2025, IKEA aims to provide all of its last-mile deliveries by electric vehicles (EV) or other zero-emission.

“For us it’s crucial to grow our business in a sustainable way – that’s why we’re speeding up the transition to EV in five inner city areas,” said Jesper Brodin, CEO of the IKEA Group in a statement.

IKEA Group is the largest franchisee to brand owner Inter IKEA, with 366 stores in 30 markets.
