Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 chipsets, the Occulus Go is likely to ship to retailers in early 2018.
Facebook owned Occulus stated it is partnering with Xiaomi Technology Co, a Chinese phone maker, to make its new standalone virtual reality headset.
Oculus also disclosed that it will launch a version of its new product exclusively for the Chinese market.
The new development marks Oculus choosing Xiaomi as its hardware partner for its Oculus Go headset which was announced in October 2017.
Its China specific headset would be named “Mi VR Standalone”.
Oculus, which was acquired by Facebook in 2014, said it is collaborating closely with Qualcomm Inc for its new headset which will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 chipsets.
The Oculus Go is set to hit the shelves in early 2018 with a starting price tag of $199.
