Qualcomm’s chips will power Renault’s dashboards and infotainment systems in its upcoming Mégane E-TECH Electric

On Monday, in a statement Qualcomm Inc said, it will supply a key chip for the dashboard of Renault SA’s new electric vehicle.

Qualcomm, the world’s biggest supplier of key semiconductors in mobile phones, has expanded into vehicles with chips that can power dashboards and infotainment systems at the same time.

Earlier this year Qualcomm Renault announced a deal with General Motors Co to use Qualcomm chips.

On Monday, Qualcomm said Renault’s upcoming Mégane E-TECH Electric will use its chips to power the vehicle’s infotainment system.

Renault’s Mégane E-TECH Electric, expected to be unveiled at this month’s IAA Mobility 2021 automotive trade show in Munich, is scheduled to go on sale in 2022.
