In a statement, Patrick Vallance, the Chief Scientific Adviser to the British government stated in response to doubts that thave been raised regarding AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine candidate, the main point about AstraZeneca’s vaccine against COVID-19 was that it worked.
“The headline result is the vaccine works and that’s very exciting,” said Vallance during a news conference with Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Answering the same question, Chief Medical Adviser Chris Whitty said there was always scientific debate about virtually everything. “The key thing from our point of view is to leave this in the hands of the regulator … They will make an assessment with lots of data that is not currently in the public domain on efficacy and on safety,” said Whitty.
