In a statement Microsoft Corp said, it will continue to negotiate with ByteDance for purchasing Chinese short-video app maker TikTok, with negotiations likely to conclude by September 15.
Microsoft’s statement come in the wake of a conversation between its CEO Satya Nadella with U.S. President Donald Trump.
Microsoft will ensure that the private data of American TikTok’s users is transferred to the United States and remains with the United States.
“Microsoft fully appreciates the importance of addressing the President’s concerns. It is committed to acquiring TikTok subject to a complete security review and providing proper economic benefits to the United States, including the United States Treasury,” said Microsoft in a statement.
There is no certainty that a deal will be hammered out, cautioned Microsoft.
