On Wednesday, South Korea’s transport ministry stated, it has launched an investigation into suspected safety issues with U.S. electric vehicle maker Tesla Inc, a strong competitor to Hyundai Motor Co in the South Korean EV market.
In a statement, officials from the transport ministry said, steering, braking and the Autopilot function were part of the investigation.
The duration of the probe is likely to range from six months to a year.
Tesla will cooperate with the investigation, said an official from Tesla’s South Korean unit.
In South Korea, Tesla recorded record sales in June, with the Model 3 sedan beating Hyundai’s Kona EV, as well as premium models from Audi and BMW.
