In a development that sees Amazon.com Inc expanding its market to the Middle East, the online behemoth launched a website for shoppers in Saudi Arabia.
Amazon re-branded Souq.com, a Middle Eastern e-commerce platform that it acquired in 2017, for Saudi customers. Similarly in 2019, Amazon also rebranded Souq’s website in the United Arab Emirates.
Despite a conflict between Bezos and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Amazon’s investment in the Kingdom has not been derailed.
In a statement Amazon said, it is building an operations network that will span across the Kingdom.
Amazon.com already has 14 warehouses, a 1,400 strong workforce and a strategic delivery partnership with Saudi Post.
