On Monday, as per a report from Japan’s news daily the Nikkei which cites multiple sources familiar with the matter at hand, the world’s biggest chip maker, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd, has stopped taking new orders from Huawei Technologies following Washington’s move aimed at further cutting off supplies to the Chinese company.
Huawei’s orders before the new ban as well as those for which production has already started will not be impacted by the new move. According to the report, shipments for old orders will continue to be processed if those chips can be shipped before mid-September.
Huawei declined comment.
TSMC said it does not disclose order details and stated the report was “purely market rumour”.
