In a statement the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) said, in April Tesla Inc sold 3,635 China-made Model 3 vehicles in the country, down by 64% from March.
Tesla’s sales in the first month of each quarter are usually lower than the remaining two months.
During an online briefing, CPCA said Tesla had produced more than 10,000 units in Shanghai in April.
According to CPCA’s data, Tesla had sold 10,160 vehicles in March, up from around 3,900 units in February.
CPCA uses a different counting method than Tesla’s deliveries.
Tesla did not immediately respond to requests for comments.
