Marriott International Inc has once again informed of a new data breach.
Hackers have been able to get their hands on information of approximately 5.2 million hotel guests. This is the second such incident for the hotel operator in less than two years.
In a statement the hotel said, the breached information, includes contact details, additional personal details such as gender and birthdays, and loyalty account information may have been accessed using the login credentials of two employees at a franchise property.
Hackers however were not able to access information such as account passwords, payment card information and information related to the guest’s passport.
The incident is being currently investigated, said Marriott while adding, it believed it started in mid-January and was identified around February end.
