Uber Technologies Inc will be closing its office in downtown Los Angeles in order to focus on its bigger locations. This office used to employ staff for customer support.
The development will impact 80 jobs.
Uber’s spokesman confirmed the closure in a statement.
Customer support jobs will be shifted Uber’s office in Manila, reported the LA Times citing sources and a recording of comments from an Uber manager.
Uber did not comment on the job losses mentioned in the report.
The development comes in the wake of Uber stating earlier this month that it expects to be profitable one year ahead of its earlier forecast, wherein it had said, it expected to be profitable by the fourth quarter of 2020; Uber also mentioned it expects to lose around $1 billion this year.
In the fourth quarter of 2019, the company’s total revenue rose 37% to $4.07 billion on a yearly basis while its net loss widened to $1.1 billion from a loss of $887 million a year earlier.
