Capital One Financial Corp faces potential class-action lawsuit over cyber breach

A lawsuit, seeking class-action status, has been filed in a federal court in Washington, D.C.

Following a cyber breach at Capital One Financial Corp, the bank stated it is now facing a potential class-action lawsuit.

A lawsuit, filed by Kevin Zosiak, is seeking class-action status was filed in the federal court in Washington, D.C.

Zosiak, a resident of Connecticut, said he is a Capital One credit card customer and his personal information has been compromised.

The lawsuit is likely to herald many similar lawsuits over the hacking attack.

The hacking attack at Capital One has affected nearly 100 million people in the United States and 6 million in Canada; it has also compromised around 140,000 Social Security numbers and 80,000 bank account numbers.
