It will have to be seen how Britain can block Huawei from only its core 5G network since it is very difficult to distinguish between core and non-core.
As per a source within the Britain’s security establishment, London will not only block China’s Huawei Technologies from all core parts of its 5G network but will also restrict access to its non-core parts.
Huawei has come under intense scrutiny due to its closeness with China’s ruling party. Intelligence Agencies across the globe fear the company’s equipment could be used as a vehicle for Chinese intelligence to conduct espionage operations globally.
As per a report from The Daily Telegraph, Britain will allow Huawei only limited access to its 5G network.
According to Tom Tugendhat, chairman of Britain’s Foreign Affairs Committee, it is very difficult to make a distinction between the core and non-core in 5G due to the way the network is built.
“It still raises concerns,” said Tugendhat to BBC Radio. “The definition of core and non-core is a very difficult one with 5G. 5G does change from a faster internet system into an internet system that can genuinely connect everything, and therefore the distinction between non-core and core is much harder to make.”
5G technology will offer much faster data speeds and will become the foundation for many industries and networks; it is a revolutionary technology, said many senior cyber experts.
