Right to be forgotten can be limited to EU

A top advisor to the European Court of Justice is of the opinion that search engines, including Google, should not be made to enforce the EU ‘right to be forgotten’ law beyond the boundaries of the bloc.

As per an advisor to the European court of Justice, the European Union’s top court, Google and other search engines can limit the “right to be forgotten” to the European Union.

The development comes in the wake of a legal battle between CNIL, a French agency responsible for ensuring data privacy and U.S. internet giant Google.

CNIL aims to force Google to Google to remove all references to them globally and not limit it to just searches from France through www.google.fr
