The ‘Summon’ feature, part of Tesla’s driver-assist Self-Pilot system, is currently limited to only the Model S cars.
On Thursday, Tesla’s Inc’s Chief Executive Elon Musk stated, an upgrade to Tesla’s ‘Summon’ auto-parking feature will be ready within six weeks; following the upgrade select models will be able to drive around a parking lot, find an empty spot and read parking signs.
Tesla cars made within the last two years will receive the update, said Musk in a series of tweets.
“Car will drive to your phone location & follow you like a pet if you hold down summon button on Tesla app”, tweeted Musk without divulging any further details.
Tesla car owners will essentially be able to operate their vehicles remotely, much like a huge remote controlled car, so long as they have line of sight of it, said Musk.
The ‘Summon’ feature, part of Tesla’s driver-assist Self-Pilot system, is currently limited to only the Model S; the feature enables the cars to park in a tight spot or move for short distances to shift to a parking spot.
