California cares for its air quality, sets high car emission standards

Emission standards set by California’s Air Resource board are followed by 12 other states.

Although the Trump administration is hell bent on relaxing car efficiency regulations, California has put its foot down and prefers clean air to pollution.

The California Air Resources Board has finalized car emissions standards for 2022-2025. As you might expect, the Trump Administration wants to however review it. This naturally creates a potential zone of conflict, if federal officials revise the rules.

California is one state which cares about the quality of air. The Clean Air Act gives the state a waiver to set its own emissions standards and 12 other states follow them as well.

If any carmaker in the United States wants to achieve reasonable success it has to cater to the standard prepared by California’s air resource board.

However with Donald Trump determined to protect the vested interest of the fossil fuel industry, things could get rough.
