The Department of Defense is looking for a few good designers who could come up with a cool new biohazard suit. The Chembio Suit Challenge, is being held by the Chemical and Biological Defense division of the US military.
The winner will walk away with a $250,000 prize tag. So in case you have got ideas for a better protective suit, get churning, there’s a quarter of a million dollars in the balance.
The current suit has issues with weight and bulk which significantly restricts a soldiers’ range of agility, motion and maneuverability.
So these are the specific areas that you, as a designer, will have to focus on, to impress your audience. Not only should the piece of clothing be less cumbersome, it should be more svelte and should look cool. Yes, the Department of Defense is also interested in how soldiers look when wearing the suit.
If your submission comes out on top, you could win awards ranging from $5,000 to $150,000.
“The ultimate goal is to relieve any burdens and hazards to the warfighter and improve operational capabilities in combating chemical and biological wartime threats,” reads the official Chembio Challenge.
