Onvi releases its $400 toothbrush can film your mouth as you brush your teeth

Now you have no excuse to not Pinterest your tonsils.

Although many use a regular toothbrush instead of an electric one, you should know that the American Dental Association has recommended using an electric toothbrush over a manual one.

Despite the added power, many who conscientiously clean their teeth miss a spot or two. So as to solve this problem Onvi has brought out an electric toothbrush with an added video capability that can live stream the inside of your mouth as you brush your teeth. You can watch it on your smartphone.

Called the Prophix, Onvi has added a small light along with a a tiny HD camera that can record 1080p videos and can take 10megapixel stills. Armed with this you can now get a close-up of the food particles that are caught between your teeth.

The Prophix comes with 4 interchangeable attachments – a tiny mirror, a brush, a prophy cup and a rubber picking tip. If you find a spot that you are unable to clean, you can now promptly take a snap and mail it to your dentist.

However, all of these functionalities come at a price. Onvi is asking for $400. This is almost double of what both the Oral-B 700 SmartSeries brush and the Sonicare FlexCare Platinum sells for. Although the Prophix has its conveniences, but by just slapping on a camera and a tiny light and asking $400 for it seems – gimmicky?

However, if you feel that your teeth are priceless and blowing $400 on a video enabled toothbrush is worth it then go right ahead. The investment might be worth it in reduced dental bills.
