Alibaba’s Echo will speak Mandarin and will be available in China only.

According to sources familiar with the matter at hand, Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group Holding Ltd is likely to launch a product that is almost identical to Amazon.com “Echo” speaker next week.

Launched in 2014, “Amazon Echo”, is a portable speaker which can run most of the day and accepts voice commands to, similar to Apple’s Siri on its iPhone.

Alibaba’s new product will be available only in China and speak only Mandarin, said the source.

Google and Apple have both unveiled products that are similar to Echo with Google Home and the HomePod.

Alibaba did not immediately respond to a request for comment, outside business hours.
