Harley Davidson to bring out an e-bike in 2021

Going green isn’t just an option anymore, it is becoming the norm.

When Harley-Davidson showed off its electric motorcycle project aptly called

Project LiveWire, the company was probably hinting at possible new motorcycle line.

During a chat with the Milwaukee Business Journal, Harley Davidson’s Sean Cummings stated that an electric version of the Harley will be out within the next 5 years. For those who are Harley aficionados, you may want to mark your calendars. Sean has however not divulged any kinds of details as to what the e-bike will entail. One thing can be certain though is that it won’t resemble its 2014 LiveWire cousin.

One of the biggest challenges it will face is extracting mileage out of its charge. While the LiveWire concept managed to get only 60 miles on a single charge, being a long distance commuting bike, this will not cut it.

Unfortunately, Harleys don’t have the luxury of a car floor, wherein it can store its battery packs, it will have to find ways to cram a significant amount of cells into a narrow space while still managing the bike’s aesthetic appeals and maneuverability. Keeping this in view, a cruiser may be easier to build than a street version of the bike.

Irrespective of this, the fact that Harley, a LOUD gas guzzler is planning on producing e-bikes is very exciting. The brand is synonymous with roaring gas engines. Clearly there is a market for ecological conscious riders.

Hope this noteworthy trend continues to gain further momentum.
