The co-president of Xpeng AeroHT, an affiliate of Xpeng, said in an interview on Friday that the company hopes to deliver its flying automobile to consumers in 2026.
The Land Aircraft Carrier, a large truck with an electric two-seater passenger drone inside, was unveiled by Xpeng AeroHT last year. After the flying vehicle and truck separate, users may climb into the drone and take to the skies.
Co-president of Xpeng Brian Gu stated that pre-orders for the car will open this year, with delivery anticipated in 2026.
“The reason we are confident, because we are designing this for the use not in urban centers, but for outskirts in scenic areas where … we will work with municipalities to create flying parks and flying zones that allow people to enjoy flying without the hassle of getting all the complicated approvals,” Gu noted.
This year, Xpeng said that the flying automobile is presently undergoing approval with the Chinese aviation authority.
The delivery objective for the fourth quarter of 2025, as Xpeng had earlier said, is a little later than the 2026 schedule.
According to Gu, passengers won’t need a specific licence to use the drone at first.
“Because we are using leisure and sports related use case for the initial use of that flying device. As you move more closer to urban … centers, you do need special licenses and that will be a lot more complicated to get approval for,” Gu said.
He Xiaopeng, the CEO of Xpeng, had recently told the media that the business’s longer-term objectives included robotics and flying vehicles. The company has been aiming to grow into other sectors of electric transportation.
