Google Fires Hundreds Of Staff Members From Its Advertising Sales Division

The latest layoffs at the search giant Google began on Tuesday, when the Alphabet-owned corporation announced that hundreds of workers in its advertising sales team will be let go.

The action adds to indications that businesses intend to use automation and artificial intelligence technologies to reduce labour costs this year.

Google announced last week that it would be laying off a number of staff members from its augmented reality team, hardware teams that work on Pixel, Nest, and Fitbit, and Voice Assistant divisions.

According to the corporation, Google’s customer solutions division, which caters to medium-level advertiser clients, will be the main force behind future expansion.

The story was initially broken earlier in the day by Business Insider.

Additionally, last week, Amazon.com opens a new tab announced that it would be laying off 500 staff at Twitch, its video streaming platform, and several hundred people in its streaming and studio operations.

Google, which was formerly hailed as a pioneer in promoting AI research, debuted its eagerly anticipated AI model Gemini last month in an effort to overtake Microsoft and start a new front in the race for artificial intelligence.
