Nvidia Will Boost AI Research And Deepen Its Relationship With Vietnam

The CEO of American chipmaker Nvidia announced on Monday that the company will deepen its collaboration with leading Vietnamese tech companies and assist the nation in developing human resources for the creation of digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence.

Nvidia has already invested $250 million in Vietnam. According to a statement released by the White House in September, when Washington strengthened diplomatic relations with Vietnam, Nvidia has collaborated with top IT businesses to implement AI in the cloud, automotive, and healthcare industries.

“Vietnam is already our partner as we have millions of clients here,” Jensen Huang, Nvdia’s CEO said at an event in Hanoi in his first visit to the country.

“Vietnam and Nvidia will deepen our relations, with Viettel, FPT, Vingroup, VNG being the partners Nvidia looks to expand partnership with,” Huang said, adding Nvidia would support Vietnam’s artificial training and infrastructure.

There were rumours last week that Nvidia was scheduled to meet on Monday with Vietnamese government and IT companies to discuss potential semiconductor cooperation partnerships.

Huang’s visit coincides with Vietnam’s efforts to enter the chip design and manufacturing space as opportunities in the industry arise due to trade concerns between China and the United States.

Nguyen Chi Dzung, Vietnam’s minister of investments, stated during the event on Monday that the nation has been putting systems and incentives in place to entice investment projects in the semiconductor and artificial intelligence sectors.

Following Huang’s suggestion to establish a base in Vietnam, Dzung also requested that Nvidia take into consideration establishing a research and development centre in the nation, following his meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Sunday.
