According to court documents, an Australian project management company has sued Twitter Inc. in a U.S. court for allegedly failing to pay bills for work completed in four different nations totaling around A$1 million ($665,000).
On June 29, a Sydney-based private firm named Facilitate Corp filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, alleging that Twitter’s inability to pay its invoices constituted a breach of contract.
Since Elon Musk acquired Twitter for $44 billion last year, an Australian company has filed a lawsuit against the social media network citing non-payment of rent and expenses.
According to Facilitate, it conducted an office fit-out in Singapore from 2022 to early 2023, put sensors at Twitter’s offices in London and Dublin, and cleared an office in Sydney.
According to Facilitate, Twitter owes the business approximately 203,000 pounds, S$546,600, and A$61,300 for those works.
There isn’t a media relations department any longer at Twitter, also known as X Corp. The Australian Twitter office was not immediately reachable by Reuters.
According to Facilitate, it is requesting legal fees, compensatory damages in an amount to be established at trial, and interest at the highest permitted rate.
Innisfree M&A Inc., a U.S.-based advice firm, sued Twitter earlier this year, seeking approximately $1.9 million for what it said were unpaid expenses after it advised Twitter on its acquisition by Musk. In May, a former public relations agency filed a lawsuit in a New York court alleging that Twitter had not paid its bills.
In January, judicial proceedings were launched by Britain’s Crown Estate, a private company that oversees the monarchy’s real estate holdings, regarding alleged unpaid rent on Twitter’s London headquarters.
