In a statement German auto giant Volkswagen AG said, owners of its ID.4 compact electric sport utility vehicle will gain three years of unlimited charging in the United States. This will at no additional cost to the price of the vehicle.
Customers who purchased or leased its ID.4 electric SUV, which was launched in August 2020, can gain access VW’s Electrify America’s U.S. network of more than 2,000 fast chargers and 470 charging stations.
“By adding three years of fast charging at no additional cost through Electrify America, we are eliminating all barriers for mainstream compact SUV buyers to go electric,” said Scott Keogh, chief executive officer of Volkswagen Group of America.
Volkswagen electric vehicle strategy revolves around making the ID family of family the rockbed of its brand’s ambitious plan to build 1.5 million electric vehicles a year by 2025.
In a statement the Volkswagen Group said, it plans on spending around $40 billion by 2024 to ramp the production of electric vehicle production in Europe, the United States and China.
