13,000 schools and university accounts have been exposed by the breach.
On Thursday, Pearson Plc, a British education company stated, it has notified customers of a massive data breach which resulted in unauthorized access to about 13,000 school and university accounts, mostly confined to the United States.
The data breach exposed the first names, last names, and in some instances dates of birth and email addresses of its customers.
“While we have no evidence that this information has been misused, we have notified the affected customers as a precaution,” said the company in an emailed statement while adding that the vulnerability leading to the incident has been fixed.
