According to a report from Bloomberg, Exact Sciences Corp, a cancer diagnostics company, is in advanced negotiations to acquire Genomic Health Inc for around $2.8 billion in order to strengthen its cancer testing unit.

The potential deal could be announced as early as next week; however sources have cautioned that negotiations could be delayed, or fall apart.

Neither Exact Sciences nor Genomic Health responded immediately to requests for comments.
