The new center will focus on Aptiv’s L4 or level 4 technology.
On Wednesday, Aptiv, a U.S. auto-parts supplier stated it was opening an autonomous mobility center in Shanghai.
The development underscores its push to increase in footprint in the self-driving vehicles market in China.
The new center in Shanghai, will be one of Aptiv’s major autonomous driving engineering hubs, alongside Pittsburgh, Las Vegas, Boston, and Singapore, said the company.
The Shanghai unit “will focus on Aptiv’s L4 or level 4 technology that will allow cars to pilot themselves without a human driver under certain conditions”.
Aptiv stated, it was in talks with partners for mapping and commercial deployment of its vehicles in China.
