Siemens beat Huawei in the number of patent applications filed with the European Patent Office in 2018.

On Tuesday, in a statement the European Patent Office stated, Germany’s top industrial group Siemens had filed the maximum number of patent applications in Europe in 2018. Siemens was followed by China’s Huawei.

In 2017, the Chinese telecom equipment maker had filed 2,485 patent applications with it, ahead of any other company.

While Chinese companies leverage Western technologies and platforms, China does not provide a level playing field for non-Chinese companies in the mainland.
