The extradition request from the U.S. to Canada is likely to occur by the end of January 31.

The United States has informed Canada that it plans on making a formal request to extradite Huawei’s Chief Financial Officer Meng Wanzhou on allegations violation of U.S. sanctions against Iran, stated the Globe and the Mail in their respective reports.

In an interview, David MacNaughton, the Canadian ambassador to the United States, however did not expand as to when the formal extradition request is likely to be made.

The Globe and the Mail stated, the deadline for filing is January 30.

Huawei stated, it has no comment on the ongoing legal proceedings

Officials from the U.S. Justice Department could not be immediately reached for comment.
