The “Close Friends” feature allows users to share their stories with a select group of people rather than just followers.
On Friday, Facebook-owned Instagram stated, it has launched a new feature called “Close Friends” through which users can share their stories with a smaller group of people.
This new feature appears on the user’s profile in the side menu and enables Instagram’s 1 billion plus users to share stories exclusively with a closely knit group.
“If you’re on someone’s close friends list, you’ll see a green ring around their photo in the Stories tray and a green badge when you’re viewing their stories,” said Instagram in a statement.
Faced with backlash from fake news, addiction to social media and leak of individual privacy, Instagram has been facebook’s fastest-growing revenue generator.
In October following the high-profile exits of Instagram’s co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, Instagram appointed long-term insider Adam Mosseri as its CEO.
