The Government Communications Security Bureau has effectively banned Huawei Technologies Co Ltd’s 5G equipment from New Zealand citing significant risks to national security.
On Wednesday, Spark New Zealand stated, the Government Communications Security Bureau has declined its proposal to use Huawei Technologies Co Ltd’s 5G equipment citing significant risks to national security.
This decision effectively ban Spark from using Huawei equipment in its planned 5G network, said the company in a statement.
Spark went on to add, the decision will not impact its plans to launch 5G network by July 1, 2020.
