Samsung sees the DRAM memory market rising by 20% in 2018, while the NAND Flash memory market by 30%, down from its earlier forecast of 40%.
According to a report from Bloomberg which cites 3 sources familiar with the matter at hand, Samsung Electronics Co Ltd plans to lower its production of memory chips in 2019 and keep supplies tight due to lower demand.
According to the report, the move would either push prices up or could enable Samsung to maintain them at their current levels.
Samsung expects the Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) memory market to rise by 20% and the NAND flash memory market to rise by 30%. This is to be seen against its earlier report wherein it had stated it expected the DRAM market to rise by 20% and the NAND market by 40% in 2018.
Samsung did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
