Flipkart is the vehicle through which Wal-Mart is fighting back its prime competitor – Amazon.com.
On Wednesday, in a move aimed at retaining customer loyalty, Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart stated, it will be launching its second loyalty program later in August 2018, as it move to better fight Amazon.com Inc’s Prime plan.
Bengaluru-headquartered Flipkart stated, its ‘Flipkart Plus’ will be launched on India’s Independence Day, August 15, while adding that customers who opt for it will receive free and fast delivery services, better customer support and early access to major sales events.
Incidentally, Flipkart, which is in the process of being acquired by Walmart Inc, had earlier attempted a loyalty plan without much success.
Since 2016, Amazon.com’s Prime program offers free, faster shipping as well as free video and music streaming services in India.
