The move marks the latest effort by companies in Japan to fight Amazon.com from gaining a foothold in the island nation.

On Friday, Japanese business daily NHK reported, SoftBank Group Corp, Yahoo Japan Corp and Aeon Co Ltd plan on launching an online retail business.

The online retail business will sells all kinds of products including, everyday goods, clothes and food, reported NHK citing anonymous sources.

The development could mark the latest collaboration between the companies in Japan as they explore ways to ramp up their online offerings and fight Amazon.com.
