It is to be seen whether the early bird gets the worm or whether Tesla Model 3 can still beat the Bolt despite its head start.
Introduced at CE 2016, the reasonably priced yet high ranged Bolt EV has finally arrived.
The delivery of the car to a dealership in Fremont, California is a milestone in automobile history. With its launch Mary Barra, General Motor’s CEO has made significant inroads in the company’s aggressive roadmap for the next gen automobile.
Of note is that the fact the GM’s new cars will be delivered to owners located just three miles from Tesla’s assembly plant.
Boasting a range of 238 miles, GM’s Chevy Bolt will set you back by $37,495 before U.S. tax credits.
The strategically placed pricing puts in the same segment as Tesla’s Model 3, whose delivery will only begin in late 2017. With almost a year’s headstart, General Motors’ reasonably priced, high mile-ranged electric vehicle has been thoughtfully placed in this auto segment.
It’s hardly a coincidence that the delivery of its first cars have been placed near Tesla’s manufacturing facility.
Although placing the cars in the hands of actual customers from a year of its unveiling is hugely impressive, do note that only 3 cars will be delivered today.
General Motors has disclosed that additional vehicles are currently in transit to California and Oregon and are scheduled to arrive at their destinations before the end of this month.
States in the American mid-west will see the cars arrive in showroom sometime later this winter or towards the beginning of next year. GM will cover the rest of the United States by the middle of 2017.
