Orkut Büyükkökten of Orkut’s fame launches Hello: a social network in which you share your personality.
Although Google eased out axed Orkut a couple of years go, the drive for creating a social networking is very much alive and kicking. In fact, it just made its presence felt: it just launched Hello, a social networking service that is pretty unique and refreshing.
Instead of repeatedly clicking on ‘Likes’, here you get to choose your ‘personas’, such as geek, loves to shoot photographs, trekker, etc, that reflects your core interest and defines your personality.
As you browse through like-minded personas, an algorithm helps you find news streams and suggests others who have similar personalities. As correctly pointed out by VentureBeat, Hello isn’t about your social update, its more to do with your focus on images and comments on them, for which you are aptly rewarded.
Although Hello isn’t competing with heavy weights such as Facebook which has more than 1.7 billion active users, it will however rake in those like to gain knowledge and pictures and post their comments for the benefit of the community.
So as to survive, Hello is not dependent on a billion member community, all it needs is a sufficiently large number of members who are closely not to create a culture of sharing and gaining.
