Apple is slated to release its car by the end of 2020.
Apple has employed the former head of BlackBerry’s automotive software division to lead its self-driving car project. He had earlier founded and had acted as the CEO of QNX, an operating system which BlackBerry acquired in 2010.
Dan Dodge now joins Apple’s automotive initiative team, which is headed by Bob Mansfield.
As part of Project Titan, Dodge will help in the research and development of automated driving systems which could one day result in the Apple Car.
In addition to Dodge, Apple has also engaged other employees in the hundreds who have been tasked to design cars with a release date of 2020.
This date is however not written in stone and has undergone multiple changes in the past and has seen the arrival and departure of several team members.
