Sony’s upcoming shockproof, X-ray proof and are water-resistant SF-G SD cards will have a write-speed of 299 MB/s and a read speed of 300 MB/s.

Sony has got another feather in its cap: the company’s upcoming SF-G SD cards, which the company has recently announced, “will be the world’s fastest SD cards,” boasting maximum write speeds of 299 MB/s. Their read speed will be 300 MB/s.

The cards will be made available in the following sizes: 32GB, 64GB and 128GB.

Since speed is of prime importance, the upcoming cards will also support the UHS-II interface.

This development is important since Sony’s SF-G series will be able to handle cameras which can capture 4K videos.

In order to fully capitalise on its speedy cards, Sony is also set to launch a specialized card reader that can handle the speed to quickly transfer files to and from their devices to computers.

In addition to boosting speed, Sony will also ensure that its SF-G cards SD cards are shockproof, X-ray proof and are water-resistant.

For comparison, Amazon’s best-selling 32GN SanDisk Ultra Class 10 SDHC UHS-I SD card, has a max read and write-speed of 80MB/s.

Although Sony has to yet to announce the price tags for these cards, the 32GB version of a SanDisk SD card sells for $60 at B&H.

Since Sony’s SF-G cards are technically superior, expecting them to be priced slightly higher is reasonable.
